In 2018, Musical.ly was shut down and its users were switched over to a new social network named TikTok. The new platform allowed its users to post lip sync videos ad create musical, dance, and other types of short videos. It’s an addictive app that takes features from other social network platforms and combines them together into a unique platform of its own.

The popularity of TikTok has grown immensely and it is currently one of the top trending mobile apps of 2019. TikTok is a new app and many people aren’t completely familiar with it yet, so we want to provide you with a few tips and tricks you can use to make the most of your experience.

TikTok Tips & Tricks

1. Upload Video from Gallery

Launch the TikTok app and his the add button on the bottom. From the camera screen, tap on the upload button and select the video you want to upload, followed by the ‘next’ button. If you want to upload and join multiple videos at once, tap on the ‘Select Multiple’ option at the bottom left corner of the screen, and select as many videos as you want. You can change the length and speed of each clips, and hit the ‘next’ button once you’re done. Apply various effects to your video on the next screen, and tap the ‘next’ button to finish the process.

2. Create Slideshows

Instead of creating videos out of pictures on another app, TikTok allows you do do this inside their app – and it’s easy! Open the app and tap the ‘add’ icon at the bottom and then tap the upload icon. From the upload screen, you can tape the image tab and select the images you want to use to create your slideshows. Hit the slideshow icon at the top right corner. You can finally add effects, chance the sound and transitions and then click next to complete the process.

3. Download Videos From Other People

One of the main features of TikTok is sharing and discovering new videos. Sometimes you might want to download other people’s videos to your phone, and the app makes this very easy. Just simply go to the video you wish to download, tap the share icon on the right side, and tap on Save Video. Currently the only way to save your videos is to first publish them and then follow this step for your own video.

4. Change Privacy Settings

Some videos won’t allow you to download/share them because the owner has disabled sharing. If you want to drestrict people from downloading and sharing your videos, here’s how to do it: Tap the profile icon on the bottom tap and hi the three-dot icon at the top-right corner of the app. Select ‘Privacy and Safety’ and tap on ‘Who Can Download My Video’. Here you will find three options: everyone, friends, and off. If your profile is private then off will be checked by default and no one can download your video.

5. Delete Your Video

In case you don’t like the publishers video, you can always delete it and upload a new one. Open the video you want to delete and hit the three-dot icon on the right, then swipe the bottom carousel and tap ‘Delete’

6. Create Perfect Lip Sync Videos

Probably the most common use for TikTok is creating lip sync videos. Here’s a tip to edit your videos correctly. Once you pick a song tap the scissor icon on the right side to grab the part of the song you want to include in your video. Once you have recorded your video, you can press the Scissor icon again to determine when the song should start.

7. Use A Song from Someone Else’s Lip Sync Videos

A common request is to download the song from someone else’s video, and this is very simple. To do so tap on the circle with the album art at the bottom right corner, and tap the record option – it’s that simple!
